Space
It is so bitterly cold and dark
stars that tell us lies (sparkle spark)
the soundless void
where no one can hear a scream

weightless and unforgiving
the darkness pours
even into my soul,
at night

there is only truth there
among the debris
in that soundless void
where no one hears you scream

the astra incognito
where Gods roam
romantic breathless balls
planets and dust and void

romantics call it heaven
but its true name is cold and empty
it is called space…

(c) 2016 Allen Simpson
Started this poem in 2011, finished it in 2016 after discovering it again
note: Astra incognito can be translated to ‘undiscovered stars’ it is a play on an ancient term ‘terra incognito’ which means ‘undiscovered earth’
